A fabulous festival week has come to an end, but the music and experiences take us along for a long time to come. And it really became a week of diving equipment, bird watching, Debussy, birdsong and nature's own music, as well as the joyous reverberation of chamber music's great repertoire. Everything amazingly played by the festival's talented musicians. The amazing closing consert concluded with one of the most beautiful pieces of chamber music history: Schubert's Trout Quintet, which led us to large mugs of beer and folk-dance in clear Austrian mountain air!! Thank you!
A big thank you to an amazing audience, both the faithful and all the new curious listeners, children and adults, as well as all our great partners!

World premieres are not common festival fare, but this year’s chamber music festival has one to offer at the closing concert in the Stavanger Cathedral on Sunday at 19:00. It is Per Arne Glorvigen’s work Shantid. It is always exciting for both musicians and audience when a piece is to be played for the first time, so here we have something to look forward to. Beside that, this is a tango, which is a somewhat rare form of music at a chamber music festival. Come and listen!

For music lovers, this year’s Chamber Music Festival program booklet is a gem, not least because Artistic Director Christian Ihle Hadland has poured generously from his musical horn of plenty and delivered all the program notes for the festival. This, moreover, he has done with a solid dose of humour, making them a pleasure to read. He simply gives us adult education in music! In Skur 2, he adds some personal comments in introducing the musicians. As for the program booklet, we might just call it a collector’s item to be taken out later to re-live some of the festival highlights.
