Eszter Haffner studied for 13 years in a special class for gifted musicians in Budapest before continuing her development in Vienna and the Netherlands. Her teachers included György Kurtag, and Gerhard Schulz of the Alban Berg Quartet. She has taught at numerous festivals, and among her collaborators for chamber music are several who have participated in our festival, among them Christian Altenburger, Clemens Hagen, and Elisabeth Leonskaja. Her recordings reflect an extensive range, covering chamber and concerto works from Haydn to Eisler. She plays a 1750 Bergonzi violin from the collection of the Austrian national bank.
